Featuring What's New in Heron Creek

Dr. Teresa Smith graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, in Guelph, Ontario, in 1997.  She is both a Canadian and American citizen but moved to Florida to escape the cold Canadian winters.  After a tough year working with cows and horses at a mixed animal practice in South Carolina, she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida.  Here she met her future husband, Dr. Chris Gladieux at a busy small animal hospital in Lake Worth.  The fast paced, high tech clinic offered lots of learning experiences, but once they found each other, they moved to the west coast to practice the same high quality medicine at a slower pace.  Her areas of veterinary interest include; endocrinology, dentistry and critical care.  When away from work, her hobbies include working out at the YMCA, watching movies, and spending time with her 4 year old daughter, Hannah.
Dr. Chris Gladieux graduated from Kansas State University in 1998, and immediately moved to Florida.  He lived in West Palm Beach for a year where he met his lovely wife Dr. Teresa Smith.  In 1999, they relocated to the west coast of Florida in Punta Gorda. In 2000, Dr. Gladieux moved his practice to Englewood, where the family still lives today.  He has a special interest in ultrasonography of  the abdomen and heart.  Dr. G’s hobbies include football (we are both big Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans), scuba diving, and off-shore fishing.  He belongs to the Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary club.
Debbie —  Hi! I’m Debbie.  I’ve been part of the Heron Creek Animal Hospital family since March Being a people person and animal lover, I couldn’t have started have started my endeavor into the animal world at a better place.  Working with this team has been a wonderful experience.  My interest in this field stemmed from my daughter who has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was three years old.  The knowledge and support I have gained while working at HCAH is priceless.

The best thing about my job would have to be the clients.  They are truly an awesome group of people that I have had the pleasure to meet and get to know.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband Al, and our two children Tai (daughter) and AJ (son), as well as our three cats: Reese, Leoh, and Willow, our puppy Kyra, and our fish Topsy and kitty.

If I were an animal, I would be a puppy – playful, energetic, and full of life.

Sally —  I have been part of Heron Creek Animal Hospital since October 4th, 2006. I love my job and the service I am able to provide every day. The best part of my job is the animals, without them I would not even be here.

Since before I could walk, I have loved animals. As I got older I became more and more interested in the veterinary field and it was always a goal and aspiration of mine to help those who can not help themselves. I officially began my journey down the veterinary health services path in February of 2002.

I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Petersburg College. I am on my way to becoming certified as a Veterinary Technician. I am very excited and can not wait to finish.

Supporting me in my endeavors is my husband, Joshua, my cat, Juliet and my dog, Shadow.

If I were an animal I would have to compare myself to a Golden Retriever. I love people, I am very friendly, and I always want to help whomever I can.

Siobhan —  Hi, my name is Siobhan Pronounced (shavon) I have been a Veterinary Technician at Heron Creek Animal Hospital since December 2006.

I enjoy working at Heron Creek as I feel we are practicing the best medicine available to all of your furry friends.

Laura —  Hi my name is Laura, I have been a part of the Heron Creek Animal Hospital team since April 2008.  I grew up right here in Florida and have lived the past 24 years in Port Charlotte.  I attended University of South Florida were I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Criminology.

I have a true love for all animals and have been in the Veterinary field for 10 years.  The best thing about my job would have to be our clients and their pets.  They are a great group of people and I enjoy taking the time to get to know them.

I enjoy reading, computers and anything involving horses.  I share my home with my husband Greg 2 beagles Miranda and Akira and 3 cats Bartholomew, Sirius Black and Travis.

Pam — Greetings!  I have been with Heron Creek since Jan 2008.  I started as a volunteer because I needed to be in a practice for school.  Officially in June I was hired.  I started my quest in veterinary medicine in 1991.  God has blessed me with the man of my dreams and we are more blessed to have two amazing children.  Also accompanying us at home is our Great Dane mix (pictured with me), a Lab mix and a Hurricane Katrina victim a domestic short hair.

First I must give credit for my love of animals to my wonderful father for always showing me every creature that crossed our paths.  My experience with veterinary medicine started when I lived in Syracuse, NY when our local zoo had a veterinarian that performed a surgery that allowed on lookers to view through a large glass window.  After seeing this surgery I was so intrigued that it became an interest for many years.  However, it wasn’t until my aunt’s dog(my favorite dog) developed a large mass that grew to the size of a soccer ball inside her rib cage and it wasn’t until after her passing I decided I wanted to spend my life learning about the how’s and why’s of animal care.  I owe my career to my special Penny Lane.  My special interests in veterinary medicine are dentistry, nursing and wildlife rehab.

Today I am a graduated veterinary technician from St. Petersburg College.  I will sit for my board and practical exam in June 2009.  Lord willing, upon passing will be a certified veterinary technician.  I look forward to providing to you and your beloved furry family member a higher standard of service you both deserve.
